Machinemade rugs come in a large variety of
designs, from traditional and geometric to modern and
plain. Most machinemade rugs are contemporary in design.
Rug sizes start at 60 cm x 90 cm and some patterns can
be supplied in sizes as large as 3.0 m x 4.0
m.
Machinemade rugs are made with a variety of
different materials, starting with hard-wearing everyday
acrylic rugs, through to the thick, dense pile of
heatset polyolefin yarn and 100% pure
wool.
Quality also differs according to density
of points, the denser the points the clearer the images.
The thick extra-dense weave (1 - 1.5 million points per
square metre) enhances the colouring and allows crisp
detailing of each design.
These rugs are the
cheaper alternative of floorcoverings than handmade
rugs. The major countries which produce and export these
types of rugs are Belgium, China, Turkey, France, Iran,
USA and Egypt.
